ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Since 1986, St. Louis has been able to brag that it has its very own circus! That would be Circus Flora, under The Big Top at 3401 Washington Boulevard in Grand Center every summer.
The 38th season of Circus Flora is kicking off this weekend with "Marooned!", which transports audiences into a world of adventure, discovery, and enchantment, witnessing the resilience and ingenuity of the circus's world-class acrobats and other circus performers as they navigate the challenges of the unknown, bringing to life a tale of survival, camaraderie, and the enduring spirit of the human heart.
"It's a wonderful time to come and spend an afternoon or an evening with your family," said Jack Marsh, Circus Flora Artistic Director on Total Information A.M. "It's big where it can sit 1,000 people and fit a flying trapeze, but at the same time, the seating is all around our ring and so you are never more than 20 feet away from the ring, so you are seeing these performers so close, you are seeing these incredible things."
The first shows of "Marooned!" will begin this weekend and the last shows are scheduled for Sunday, June 23rd. On weekends, the circus will have two shows a day. The circus will have their "Little Top Wednesdays", a special one-hour performance for kids or kids-at-heart who don't want to, or can't, sit through a longer show.
The circus will also have a Sensory Friendly show, set for Friday June 14 at 1 p.m., which is tailored for individuals on the autism spectrum, those with sensory sensitivities, or visual impairments.
