ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - More snow is expected to blanket the St. Louis region later this week.

After mishandling January's winter storm, the City of St. Louis says things will be different this time.

City of St. Louis Communications Director Conner Kerrigan points to a different kind of winter storm incoming as a reason for optimism.

"The last storm in January saw a lot more mixed precipitation, causing those layer of ice that caused a lot of issues," said Kerrigan. "We're not expecting that this time."

Kerrigan addressed comments from St. Louis Street Department Director Betherny Williams, who blamed city's internal communication for why she was unaware of the poor conditions of some roads in January.

"We are consistently communicating with our Alderpeople, which is essential in this," said Kerrigan. "We've also gotten consistent communication with the Streets Department."

"That internal communication has improved as well."

Kerrigan says there's not necessarily a 'sense of pressure' from city leaders after what happened in January.

"There's a sense of we know we got to get this right," said Kerrigan.

Kerrigan says the city is also asking for help from the public. Both shoveling their sidewalks and parking off street if possible.

New this time, the city is asking those parked on hill routes to park on the same side of the street as the odd numbered houses.
