WASHINGTON (KMOX) - St. Louis-native Rep. Cori Bush is writing a book which may be very lucrative for the first-year congresswoman.
The activist-turned politician reported the new book deal in a annual financial disclosure that was filed last week. You can see the report, here.
Bush stands to be paid an $50,000-$100,000 advance by Knopf Doubleday Publishing for writing the book, which is titled "The Cori Chronicles." It says the payment was "reviewed and approved by the House Committee on Ethics."
Bush is U.S. Representative from Missouri's 1st Congressional District, which represents the city of St. Louis and parts of St. Louis County. She is a former nurse who gained popularity as an activist during the civil unrest in Ferguson after the fatal police shooting of Michael Brown. She pulled off a surprise victory over 10-term incumbent Lacy Clay in last year's primary and then was elected in November.
She is the first Black woman to represent Missouri in Congress.
