Tax assesments are going out and while many are seeing their taxes increase, one St. Louis County politician is not. Dr. Sam Page, the St. Louis County Executive, saw his property taxes go down after his home was assessed to have lost value.

Page's house was the only one on his block to go down in value. One maintained its value while the other three all saw theirs go up.

"Well, I'm disappointed to hear that my home value decreased 1% this last assessment season but I know the assessor has a process and I'm sure that he followed it."

We asked Dr. Page if he knows why his home's assessed value went down.

"I don't. You'd have to ask the assessment folks."

What would Dr. Page say to anyone who finds his house amongst the few to have lost value suspicious?

"I would say that it's hard for me to believe the assessor would treat my home any differently than anyone elses."

97% of St. Louis County homeowners saw their assessed home values rise.
