More Missouri legislators are considering throwing their hat in the ring for the 2024 Governor's race.

On Thursday, Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft formally announced his run. He's challenging Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe, and perhaps State Senator Bill Eigel.

Eigel joined Audacy station 97.1 on Friday to say that he's raising money and rounding up volunteers for his potential run.

"It's not gonna be long until we're formally in this race as well because we're beating all the metrics that we set for ourselves to make a formal decision to be the next leader of the state of Missouri," Eigel told the station.

Eigel represents large portions of St. Charles County in the Missouri legislature, and recently started running attack ads against Kehoe and Ashcroft on social media.

On the Democratic side, House Minority Leader Crystal Quade is eyeing a run. The representative from Springfield reacted Thursday to Ashcroft's announcement, saying he thinks he's entitled to a public office based on his last name. Quade said that "Missouri deserves a governor who is dedicated to them." She didn't say when to expect a final decision about running.
