ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - This Thursday, June 12th, the St. Louis County Council will hold another committee of the whole meeting on Animal Care and Control.

Last week's committee of a whole meeting yielded few answers and left many more unanswered questions. So the Council Ethics Committee subpoenaed eleven witnesses.

Mr. Lee Jackson (no longer employed by Stl County)

Dr. Douglas Pernikoff (no longer employed by Stl County)

Dr. Landrus Burress (Deputy Director of St. Louis County Health

Ms. Rebecca Rainwater

Ms. Sarah Javier (President CEO APA)

Ms. Kim Brown (Chief Operating Officer APA)

Ms. Olivia Kovac

Dr. Marissa Bowers (Stl County Animal Care & Control)

Ms. Olivia Bennett

Mr. Matt Rold

Dr. Kanika Cunningham (Director of St. Louis County Public Health)

Councilman Dennis Hancock tells KMOX News most of the people subpoenaed have agreed to testify before the committee of the Whole this Thursday at 3:30 in the St. Louis County Council Chambers.

This meeting is open to the public.

Hancock says "the real power that the council has is the power of the purse and so if we find that money is being wasted or money that was allocated for staff or for cleaning the facility, or something like that isn't being spent the way it was suppose to be spent, we have the ability to adjust that budget if we need to."

St. Louis County Executive Doctor Sam Page, in a letter to the council, is asking them to approve using 3-million-dollars of the County's Rams settlement money to improve drainage, heating, and cooling, as well as animal housing at Animal Care and Control. There is no indication if council members will approve Page's request.
