Dave Murray: Summer heat won't be 'as extreme' as past years in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It's finally here! After weeks of prep and studying, St. Louis weatherman Dave Murray has unveiled his exclusive summer forecast for our region.

He joined the Dave Glover Show on Thursday and you can hear from him in the audio at the top of this page.

Here are a few highlights from each month of his forecast:

June
• Storms will be very active...after a quiet Spring...we will have 5 maybe 6 strong to severe weather events...that is above average.
• Warm to even hot temps for the first two weeks of the month.
• Cool down for the last two weeks of the month.

July
• Not as extreme as we have seen in the past...yes...it will be warm to hot but not a pounder.
• I don’t see any record… hot or cool...but thinking humidity is the big factor...and this will tend to keep nighttime temps up.
• Rainfall will be hard to find this month...this means a little drought will start to set in.

August
• Hottest month of the Summer...especially the middle and end of the month.
• There will be 1 maybe 2 severe weather events...could be some local flash flooding but widespread rainfall will be below to even well below average for the month.
• Temperatures, when we add up all the numbers will be near average to slightly above for the month.
