ST. LOUIS (KMOX)-- The Drug Enforcement Agency of St. Louis say they arrested 30 people associated with the Black Mafia Family this week
"We're a safer society," said DEA St. Louis Special Agent In Charge Jay Greenberg first to KMOX, when asked if society is better with the drug traffickers in custody. "Those drugs could have made it's way to the streets here in St. Louis and the Metro-area and cause overdose deaths, further addiction, and destroying families."
It was a joint investigation between the DEA, FBI, and the U.S. Attorney's Office.
30 people were arrested and 27 defendants were indicted, according to the DEA. The defendants were arrested in multiple locations, but most of them were here in the state of Missouri.
The majority of the charges stem from distributing meth, cocaine and fentanyl.
KMOX has reached out to the U.S. Attorney's Office and is awaiting word for more information regarding the case.
