The defendant took the stand in the Sweetie Pie's murder trial Tuesday.
Tim Norman testified in his own murder-for-hire trial, telling a St. Louis jury he had nothing to do with his nephew's death.
The 43-year-old reality TV star is accused of arranging the murder of 21-year-old Andre Montgomery in March 2016, attempting to cash in on a $450,000 life insurance policy.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Norman was nearly in tears as he explained being a father figure to Montgomery. Prosecutors are questioning Norman this afternoon in the case bringing national attention because of the "Welcome To Sweetie Pie's" reality show, which starred the mother of the victim.
