ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The U-S Senate in a rare Sunday night session takes procedural vote to end the government shutdown. Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth says in a statement quote:

“I simply cannot, and I will not, vote to do nothing to help protect them from Trump’s vindictive and malicious efforts in exchange for a vague promise from the least trustworthy Republican party in our nation’s history.

“This is the time to keep fighting to bring costs down and protect the American people.”

But Illinois' Senior Senator Dick Durbin has  voted yes

It appears the Senate has the 60 votes it needs to re-open the government. However, the House still needs to vote.

Eight Democrats were needed for passage, which they now have.

The bill would fund the government through January 30th, fund SNAP benefits through next September and at high levels, and Republicans agree to vote on an Affordable Care Act bill of the Democrats' choosing before mid-December.
