New Orleans police officers say street racing led to a shooting early this morning in New Orleans East, and a stick shift foiled an attempted car theft.
According to NOPD, the victim said he was drag racing near Downman Rd. and Old Gentilly Rd., when around 3:15 a.m., two unknown men approached and began shooting.
Cops said the gunmen then tried to steal the victim's car, but could not drive a manual transmission, so they fled.
The victim went to the hospital.
