An elk from Grant's Farm somehow escaped Monday night, and was euthanized. There's no word on how the animal got out, but in a statement, says it was injured so severely it had to be put down.

In social media video, you can see the elk with a fuzzy rack walking along the fence along Gravois, almost looking like he's trying to get back into the park.

The statement also says the perimeter of the deer park has been inspected.
Grant’s Farm spokesperson statement: “Monday evening an elk found its way out of the Deer Park grounds and into the grounds of Grant’s Farm after the farm was closed to guests. While every attempt was made to safely secure the animal, we discovered it sustained a life-threatening injury. After consulting with our veterinarian, the decision was made to euthanize the animal. The passing of any animal in our care is a matter of great importance and concern. We are grateful for our Animal Welfare Team’s quick response to this incident, and we have inspected the entire perimeter of the Deer Park to ensure the perimeter is secure.”
