As of early Friday evening the family of the deceased, Samuel Hayes Jr., say they have not heard any further information from the City jail about their son's death. Hayes Jr. died Saturday after being in a restraining chair for several hours.

They're asking for the video of their son in the restraining chair to be released to them. Their Attorney Jack Waldron says they want the family to see the video of Samuel in the restraining chair, adding one should exist.

"We've also spoken with the medical examiner... They've also said they are waiting for the video too."

Waldron says they are not the only ones waiting for this tape.

"Within the jail there are lots of video cameras and video tapes," said Waldron, adding "specific to the use of a restraint chair, the city has policies that say that person should be very closely monitored and video taped."

They hope the new administration at the City Justice Center is more transparent than the previous one.

"There's an administration that claims it's going to make a difference and make changes and be transparent. Our hope is that this administration does follow through with what it said it's going to."

KMOX has reached out to the department of public safety and a spokesperson for Mayor Cara Spencer for comment. A spokesperson for Mayor Cara Spencer directed us to the Police Department.

Earlier Monday the St. Louis City Police Department said their Force Investigations Unit Continues to investigate Hayes's death. They said there is no indication of any physical external signs of trauma to Hayes's body when detectives arrived at the hospital where he died.

A spokesperson for the St. Louis City Police Department tells KMOX the Force Investigations Unit will release the video to the family in the near future, as is customary to their investigations.
