ST. LOUIS (KMOX)- Fred Bodimer has been a voice of calm and authority at KMOX since he first joined the station in 1982. He's been our editor on the important health and religion beats for decades and has executive produced countless talk shows and election night specials.

Now, Fred Bodimer is set to be enshrined in the St. Louis Media Hall of Fame.

Listen to Fred and historian Frank Absher share vintage KMOX stories:

"I'm thankful I have been able to work at KMOX for more than 40 years," said Bodimer when he learned of the news on The Chris and Amy Show Tuesday. "I want to thank my bosses Steve Moore, Beth Coghlan, and Tricia Everding, who've all left me alone to do whatever I want. That's a great thing and it's why I'm still here."

During his near 42-year career in the KMOX newsroom, he has interviewed the Rev. Dr. Billy Graham, the Dalai Lama, St. Louis Cardinals Raymond Burke, Justin Rigali and Timothy Dolan, and he coordinated the station's extensive, award-winning coverage of Pope John Paul II's visit to St. Louis in 1999.

Bodimer's work has been recognized repeatedly, including with a Murrow award for outstanding coverage of the clergy sex abuse scandal, as well as a Wilbur Award, an Angel Award, and a Missouri Broadcasters Assoc. award for best religion news coverage. He was also the recipient of the 2017 Excellence in Communications Award from St. Louis Archbishop Robert Carlson.

Bodimer will be a part of 11-person cohort, which also includes KMOX alum Joe Buck, plus Clay Felker, Jessica Brown, Ed Scarborough, Dave Nicklaus and Jim Gallagher of the St Louis Post-Dispatch, public radio's Linda Lockhart, Judy Newmark, Tim Arnold and Jim Palumbo.

The class will be inducted on Feb. 1 at The Sheldon Concert Hall and Art Galleries. Tickets are available on Eventbrite starting at $100.

KMOX alum Carol Daniel, now Nine PBS Senior Producer and also a member of the St. Louis Media Hall of Fame, will serve as master of ceremonies.
