ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The heat is on in St. Louis.
Friday is the hottest day of the year thus far in St. Louis, as temperatures reached 90 degrees before noon and are expected to rise to the mid-90s. The heat index though will rise to between 95-100 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Thus far, it's actually been a mild spring for St. Louis, as we're a few weeks behind the average day that it reaches 90 degrees. Thursday, June 10, was the first day it hit 90 at St. Louis Lambert International Airport – the average day is May 21.
And the heat won't stop today, as experts are predicting Saturday to be just has hot in the area.
