Friday marks the two-year anniversary of the January 6 riot and attempted insurrection of the U.S. Capitol. The House January 6 commission has submitted its final report and been disbanded — and much of the country is still divided over what went down that day.

CBS Legal Analyst Thane Rosenbaum joined KMOX in looking back on the attacks and what will happen now — especially since Republicans took control of the House in November.

Rosenbaum described the current state of the Jan. 6 committee as "in a holding pattern."

"The question then becomes, what will become of this information? There is a thought, you know, we have a special counsel, who has been appointed, but he has no obligation at all to use any of the material that was presented by the committee," he said. "And in fact, he and the Justice Department have remained pretty silent, essentially, about what their plan to do is — they have no obligation to use it at all."

People are split on the House committee — some Republicans accuse it of being all for show, illegitimate from the start. And some Democrats think it didn't go far enough, and should've focused more on the intelligence community.
