ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - All 46 MERS Goodwill locations in the greater St. Louis area will be closed on both Thanksgiving and Christmas day for the first time in the company's more than 100-year history.

"The holidays are for a lot of wonderful things but they're especially for taking time to spend with loved ones. To give our outstanding MERS Goodwill retail employees more time to spend with family after all their hard work this past year, we have revised holiday hours," the company said in a statement.
All locations will close early on Wednesday and be closed on Thanksgiving.
During the Christmas season, all locations will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Then on New Year’s Eve, locations will close early and on New Year’s Day locations will be closed.
More big companies like Target, Best Buy, REI, Koh's and Walmart are closing on Thanksgiving.
Americans seemed to like the new strategy as it eased back on the stress that shoppers face, with a broader timespan eliminating the rush for specific deals, The Associated Press reported.
