ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A little close to two weeks after Guns N' Roses postponed their concert at Busch Stadium due to an illness, the band and the Cardinals made it official Thursday that concert was officially canceled.

"I am, as is the band, really bummed we're forced to cancel our show in St. Louis," Axl Rose expressed in a statement. "The history, the memories, the return, and to share that bond with our fans. It sucks."

Guns N' Roses were supposed to perform at Busch Stadium on Sept. 9, but an undisclosed illness led to the postponement of the concert. Event organizers say the show will not be scheduled in 2023 after they were unable to find a suitable replacement date.

Jimmy Griffin with the local band El Monstero told KMOX at the time he found out about the postponement from a worker.

"The strange part for me was I got to the place where all my gear is and there was a rather burly, construction-y type gentleman that said, 'yeah, man, they need your help down at Guns 'N Roses,' said Griffin ,"I was like, 'what are you talking about?' He goes, 'yeah, they're taking the stage down. They're not going to do the show.'

Tickets purchased directly through the St. Louis Cardinals or cardinals.com will be automatically refunded to the original payment method. Refunds will process within 10 business days. For tickets purchased through an alternate site or ticket provider, Cardinals say to go and contact your point of purchase.
