ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - There's a battle brewing for who gets to pick between Wesley Bell's successor as St. Louis County Prosecutor.

Both Missouri Gov. Mike Parson and St. Louis County Executive Sam Page named their picks to be the next St. Louis County Prosecutor, with Page naming former federal prosecutor Cort VanOstran as his pick, while Parson named Melissa Price Smith, who has been a member of the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office since 2008, as his choice.

Both Parson and Page both claim different reasons why they have the choice to pick Bell's successor, with Page pointing to the St. Louis County Charter, while Parson pointing to the Missouri Constitution.

A court hearing on the case is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, Dec. 18, with both sides scheduled to be in court.

KMOX Political Analysts John Hancock and Michael Kelley join Chris Rongey and Amy Marxkors on ‘The Chris and Amy Show’ to talk about the controversy on who appoints new County Prosecuting Attorney.
