If you've gotten your car fixed recently, you might have noticed that repairs are taking longer than normal. That's because the shortage of parts, blamed partly on supply chain issues.
KMOX Auto Show host Greg Damon, who also runs Sparks Tire and Auto in St. Charles, says it now takes longer to get batteries, car computers, filters and more. "They'll just show up in a big bunch one day," Damon said. "It's been very sketchy for the past year and a half."
He added that one of the biggest products to be hit with supply chain issues is tires. "Tires are a very volatile market, prices seem to change daily, weekly, monthly and supply is, on some tires, virtually nonexistent," he said.
He said that instead of getting your car done in one day, it might take two to four days. The worst case he's seen, he said, was one customer who waited four and a half months for an accelerator computer for a Ford Taurus.
