Vacant St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church goes up in flames

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) St. Louis firefighters are on the scene of a large two alarm vacant church fire at West Hebert and Lismore in North City.

Crews report heavy fire is showing from the church.

This is the former St. Augustine's Catholic Church in the St. Louis Place neighborhood.

St. Augustine's was built in 1896. It ceased operation as a Catholic church in 1979 and was passed to the Christ Baptist Church in the early 1980s.
