Unlike the other two alderman indicted in the bribery scandal last week, Reed has not resigned, but his latest statement suggests he may be preparing for a transition.

"Since appearing in court last Thursday," the statement says,"President Reed has been working to gain legal clarity on a transition of authority of critical functions of the Board of Aldermen President's Office to the Vice President of the Board of Aldermen. The Office of the President includes numerous legislative functions that are governed by the City's Charter. To assure a minimum disruption, President Reed will continue to finalize these arrangements and will provide futher updates soon."

Reed also sits on the city's three member budget board, on the airport commission and the East-West Council of governments. Reed's statement says he will "provide further updates soon."
