ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - IndyCar unveiled their schedule for the 2025 season Thursday and while the race at World Wide Technology Raceway will still remain on the calendar, it will have a new date next year.

On Thursday, as part of it's announcement that FOX Sports will be the home of IndyCar for the 2025 season, the open-wheel series also revealed their 17-race schedule for next season, with the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 race scheduled for June 15 on Father's Day in 2025.

The race has been historically scheduled for around late-August since the track has been a part of the IndyCar schedule. When the track returned to IndyCar's schedule in 2017, it kept its traditional race weekend date of late-August. The 2024 race is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 27 at 3:30 p.m.

The last time the track hosted an open-wheel race outside August was in 2000, when the CART FedEx Championship Series was still around. CART held their last race at the track on Sept. 17, 2000. Former Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya would win the last race CART would hold at the track.

The schedule change could make the track in Madison, Illinois very busy to begin June. While NASCAR has not yet formally released the schedule for 2025, the race at the track has taken place on the first Sunday of June since the track became a part of the Cup Series calendar in 2022.
