The Toasted Ravioli hat man and the woman who created it talk with KMOX

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It's an Italian and St. Louis thing, that started at City SC's home opener, when the camera panned to a man wearing a toasted ravioli hat. He's now known as T-Rav Man, or Toasted Ravioli Man.

Nick Lammering, or T-Rav man, has his own twitter and Instagram accounts, @TRavManSTL. And needless to say, people are clamoring for the hat, but you just can't go buy one.

That's because the creator and designer is Nick's partner and fellow artist Laynee Knipmeyer who took out her iPad, took some photos, drew the design, and made a pattern.

"I just kind of threw it all together, I love like creating and making stuff. So, it was really fun to be able to make something that so many people are seeing and loving," Laynee said. "Mainly I do stained glass or illustration, but I'm a little bit of everything, I'm like a jack of all trades. So, do a lot of different stuff I have a lot of skills like artistically. My mom was a seamstress so that's where I learned how to sew."

Lemmering says the response from the crowd in Citypark "was instant love and appreciation, it was amazing. Walking from my work building to the stadium, a lot of people started pointing, smiling, laughing, asking for photos, yelling wow toasted ravioli, then I'd yell back. Feeding off that energy it was really a fun time."

The T-Rav hats are not ready yet. Right now, Laynee is making them by hand but she intends to do a shop drop. She will send out a newsletter to everyone who signed up "and say like 'hey, at this day on this time is when I'm going to be releasing them' and I'll send that a couple of days before hand, so people can get their computer ready and everything in order so they can be the first to order one."

Check Laynee's website for more information.
