One of the candidates for the President of the St. Louis Board of Aldermen says the city is lacking a leadership vision.
Alderman Jack Coatar told the Dave Glover Show that he's trying to focus on the basics, while his opponent Megan Green is more focused on advocating for social justice issues.
"Yes, we have large issues as a region. We do have to address systemic racism, we have to address the inequality that's going on here," Coatar said. "But if we can't pick up trash, police the streets, and fill potholes, I don't know how we deal with the larger issues."
Coatar said his priorities are fighting crime and increasing the tax base. He added that the leadership void has been a problem for years, and the Board of Alderman are partly to blame.
