Janae Edmondson, the teenager from Tennessee who lost both her legs after a car crash in St. Louis, has left the ICU and headed to a rehab facility on Thursday.

Janae’s mother Marilyn posted an update on the teen's GoFundMe, saying that they’re glad she’s taking the next step toward recovery.

“The road is going to be a long and difficult [one] but it is one we have to take to get her home and back to her life,” her mom wrote. “The physical and emotional toll has been beyond measure for all of us but she is a warrior and we are so proud of how she has faced it. Her strength is beyond measure. We thank everyone for all that you have done for her and our family. Prayer has brought us this far but she still needs so much prayer to get through this.”

She writes that their son, Scoot Edmondson, is still in the ICU, and that they are asking for prayers for his healing as well.

Janae’s GoFundMe has raised more than $772,000, closing in on the family’s goal of $900,000.

Edmondson was visiting St. Louis for a volleyball tournament when a reckless driver hit her. The suspect, 21-year-old Daniel Riley, was out on bond for a previous crime and had repeatedly violated the conditions of his GPS monitoring system.
