It might be fun for volunteers, but Grant Bissell with the Sheriff says deputies are being taught to pay attention to detail. Speaking on KMOX's Total Information PM, Bissell explained "you can arrest somebody and you can get charges, based on the claims you've made and the evidence you've gathered. But ultimately if it goes before a judge and the judge says this isn't near good enough a case, or a prosecutor says you didn't do x, y, and z, or if they still feel you did and the defense attorney, who is very savvy at this type of defense law, can tear you apart, so that is another part of this course."

Bissell says volunteers are screened first and given their choice of (non-taxpayer funded) drink. He adds, if volunteers didn't arrange transportation themselves -- or if they wanted -- deputies would give them a "first-class" ride home.
