During the holiday season, you may need a little inspiration and some ways to look at the bright side. KMOX’s Total Information AM spoke with John O’Leary of Live Inspired to talk about joy during the holidays.

O’Leary’s story is one that he uses to inspire hope in people worldwide. At the age of 9, 100% of hid body was severely burned in a fire, and his parents were told there was basically no chance he’d survive. But decades later, O’Leary is sharing his story with millions of people.

“And yet, miracles happen,” he told KMOX.

O’Leary recalled one of the most important moments in his recovery — when KMOX’s Jack Buck came to visit him in the hospital.

“I find myself wrapped in a hospital bed from head to toe tied down to a bed, unable to move, unable to communicate, can't talk, and I can't see, the swelling is so bad — but I could I could hear,” O’Leary recalled. “And I hear the door open up, I hear footsteps walk in, I hear somebody clear their throat and then whisper these words: ‘Kid…kid wake up, wake up. You are going to live. You're going to survive. Keep fighting. John O'Leary day at the ballpark, will make it all worthwhile. Keep fighting.’”
