KMOX Facebook Live explores disinformation campaigns amid Russia-Ukraine Crisis

SAINT LOUIS, MO (KMOX) - From video game simulations to outdated footage, fact checkers and digital forensics experts are sifting through an increasing amount of questionable videos and reports, amid mounting tension between Russia and Ukraine.

Some agencies have checked video metadata to determine when footage was actually created, calling into question whether some incidents have been staged. Other investigators say they've found evidence that videos posted on social media of military activities are years old and completely unrelated to current events. The US and UK recently accused Russia of trying to stage videos as a pretext for invasion.
