ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -- She's one of the most trusted, enduring, and versatile voices in the long, legendary history of 'The Mighty Mox.' This summer, Carol Daniel will be inducted into the St. Louis Media History Hall of Fame.

Carol is part of a roster that includes longtime television journalist Dennis Riggs, Post-Dispatch 'Weatherbird' creator Harry Martin, and William E. Woods, who, in 1920, was the first person actually heard on St. Louis radio.
"It’s impressive how rich St. Louis is with so many talented people who currently work or did work in this industry," Media History Foundation Executive Director Frank Absher said in a statement.

Carol is currently co-host of "St. Louis Talks," KMOX's midday talk program. She joined the station more than a quarter-century ago as a news reporter, moving up to become the station's main dayside anchor for several years.
She's also been a personal anchor and champion for her many newsroom colleagues over the years.
The announcement was made Monday on "St. Louis Talks" with Absher there in-studio and former KMOX General Manager Tom Langmyer on the phone.
Langmyer was driving his family to a vacation in Memphis when he heard Carol on a Cape Girardeau radio station. He called her from the car -- no easy feat in the early nineties -- and asked if she'd like to work at KMOX.
"When I met you in person, it was such a great combination of obviously professionalism and a wonderful voice -- but there's an empathy there, a caring piece," he described.
"When identifying those who would be eligible for this honor, we reviewed the body of work regardless of when it took place. The final selections represent quality and excellence across a broad range of media careers and timelines," Absher said.
In 2018, Carol's news anchoring of coverage of Gov. Mike Parson's impromptu swearing-in was honored with a regional Edward R. Murrow award.
Carol has used her voice and visibility to push for equal opportunities for women and Black people across the St. Louis metro. A constant is her goal to find common ground in the wake of polarizing events like the Ferguson unrest.
