Tony Bennett, died Friday at 96. He died, just two weeks short of his 97th birthday.

Michael Kelley, co-host of KMOX's Hancock and Kelley remembered celebrating the crooner's 80th birthday party in New York seeing him sign at a campaign fundraiser in the early 2000s.

"I've actually been in Tony Bennett's house," exclaimed Kelley, who says the singer's apartment overlooked Central Park in Manhattan. "Just one of the sweetest men, that you'll ever meet."

"When Frank Sinatra says you're the true 'American Songbook'-singer, I don't think you can get higher praise than that," said Kelley.

"Tony Bennett was a supporter of Congressman Dick Gephardt for President," said Kelley who shared that Bennett appeared at a fundraiser for that campaign in 2003. Kelley says Bennett sang three songs at the event, "John, it made me cry."

"It was truly one of the most special moments of my life," said Kelley about hearing Bennett sing live.
