Missouri has a deer roadkill problem.
State representative Paula Brown says she was getting all kinds of messages -- people angry about the dead deer on the roads.
Brown says she found out Modot chucks the carcasses off the shoulder, but constituents can still see it, and they don't want to. "Sometimes MoDOT runs over these carcasses while they're mowing."
This bill would have Modot pick up the roadkill and deliver it to a conservation area where it will be buried 3 feet deep, because, says Brown, "chronic wasting disease is a concern in some areas."
