Living History: Dr. Simone Cummings, dean of Walker School of Business at Webster University

For Black History Month, KMOX’s Carol Daniel is talking to people in the St. Louis area who are making Black History today.

The second installment of her “Living History” series features Dr. Simone Cummings, the dean of the Walker School of Business at Webster University.

While Carol and Simone have been friends for years, they still had more to learn about each other. Dr. Cummings talked with Carol about her decision to get a PhD as a Black woman, her upbringing, what her dreams were at 10 years old, and more.

“Simone the ten-year-old always thought she wanted to go into business. So my father was an executive, a businessman. And he worked for Nestle Purina. I saw the kinds of things that he did, and I thought, ‘You know, when I grow up, that's what I want to do, too,’” she said. “So I was always interested in business from a young age. I don't know that I had any real aspirations, but I wanted to be an executive. And I wanted to run things.”
