Matthew McCullough pled guilty to 6 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, 1 count of making a terrorist threat, and 1 count of unlawful use of a weapon for firing off a handgun at a trunk or treat at Kirkwood Middle School back in 2023.

Assistant prosecuting attorney Jessica Hathaway explains this was a blind plea, which means no deal was in place.

"The defendant elects not to plead pursuant to the recommendation of the prosecutor. So he could have pled guilty today (Friday) pursuant to the 3 year recommendation, and the court would have most likely given him that 3 year recommendation."

Sentencing is scheduled for March 14th. Because he did not take the plea deal, McCullough is at risk of potentially being sentenced to more than 3 years but could also be sentenced to less.
