ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - People age 5 and older will need to continue to wear face masks in public indoor spaces and on public transportation in the City of St. Louis. The mandate was extended by a unanimous vote from the Board of Alderman Monday morning.
The original mandate was issued July 26 by Mayor Tishaura Jones, in partnership with St. Louis County Executive Dr. Sam Page. Today's vote now keeps it in place through Sept. 29 in the city.
Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt filed a lawsuit against the mandate last month, but the legal battle hasn't been as public as in St. Louis County.
On Friday, the St. Louis County Council passed a resolution in support of the county's mask mandate. The mandate was blocked by a judge last month, but now the County is asking for the judge to lift the preliminary injunction.
