Masking ends at several St. Louis health systems

Universal masking policies at several area hospitals have just been lifted.

Effective this week, masking related to COVID-19 precautions is now optional in all Mercy facilities, SSM Health facilities, and St. Luke's Hospital.

Mercy says if you are experiencing new symptoms like cough, fever or congestion, masking remains recommended to prevent the spread of a possible COVID or other infection.  

Patient screening questions for COVID symptoms will continue, and masks will still be available at hospital and clinic entrances.

SSM officials say if you are visiting someone immunocompromised, you may be asked to wear a mask in certain areas.
