In the race to replace the indicted former Board of Alderman President Lewis Reed, Mayor Tishaura Jones has thrown her support behind fellow progressive, Alderwoman Megan Green.
While many saw reason for Alderman Jack Coatar to step in, Jones said that she wasn't considering him because he had tried to "destroy" her when she was City Treasurer.

"He voted against the minimum wage, he voted against the Office of Financial Empowerment, and he is for airport privatiziation, things that I was not for," Jones said. "Megan Green on the other hand, she and I share a lot of the same values."
Alderman Coatar has criticized the Mayor recently, too, saying his campaign would be about getting "back to basics" after complaints about crime, potholes and trash pickup.
The primary election is September 13 and the special general election is November 8.
