(KMOX) - Police shared a sad update that the body of Jaclyn “Angel” Dobbs was found in an Indiana pond. The 1-year-old had been missing for days after her mother was found strangled in her Illinois apartment.
Police say a dive team recovered the body in a northwest Indiana retention pond Thursday afternoon, after construction workers noticed the remains, reports the Chicago Sun-Times. There was a chance that the young girl was in Missouri, as a van connected to her disappearance and her mother's murder was found in Missouri earlier this week.

Police announced that a person of interest was arrested with the van in Missouri and is someone who had a relationship with the girl's mother, 21-year-old Ja’nya Murphy. Murphy was found strangled to death in her Wheeling, Illinois apartment on Monday.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday to determine the child's cause of death.
KMOX's previous reporting:
Illinois State Police issued an endangered missing person advisory on Thursday morning for Jaclyn “Angel” Dobbs. Her mother, Ja’nya Murphy, 21, was found slain in her apartment in Wheeling, Illinois on Tuesday.
The advisory stated that a maroon 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan was found in Missouri, with no sign of the young child. Police didn't specify where in Missouri it was found.
Police say Jaclyn may be in danger.
Jaclyn is a black female, who is 2 feet tall and 24 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information can call Wheeling police at (847) 459-2632.
Police did a well-being check in the apartment by climbing onto the balcony and found the door to be unlocked at 356 Inland Drive in Wheeling, late Tuesday night. It was because Murphy hadn't shown up to work on Tuesday and had not been seen by family since Monday, police say.
