A Virginia Tech senior who disappeared about a week ago showed up in Missouri and is no long considered a missing person's case.

Authorities with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department in Virginia announced Saturday that police made contact with the 20-year-old in Missouri Friday. He answered their questions fully and appeared to be himself.

His family grew concerned Feb. 16 when Roop failed to show up at their home in Abingdon, Va. He was supposed to take an online test there. Family members said Roop's recent behavior was out of the norm. His cell phone pinged near a local mall, but the next sighting of Roop was Wednesday, hundreds of miles away in Popular Bluff, Mo.

Roop was spotted at a restaurant there and drove off by himself in his black Toyota Camry. Police were able to locate him two days later and confirm that he was safe and traveling alone under his own volition.

Roop is a business major scheduled to graduate in May.
