Mizzou fans might have to say goodbye to "Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium"

The university announces it's actively seeking a corporate partner to buy the naming rights to the 100-year-old home of Tiger football. If a deal is reached, officials say the word "Memorial" will be removed from the stadium's name entirely.

The University of Missouri is seeking a naming rights sponsor. It could fetch millions.

Mizzou Athletics is officially on the hunt for a corporate partner to put a new name on its historic football stadium. It's technically called Memorial Stadium but most say Faurot Field.

While MU says the move is necessary to fund the $250(M) Centennial renovation Project, the price of admission for a corporation won't be cheap. Washington University sports business expert Patrick Rishe says the Tigers are looking at a significant annual payday.

"I have a feeling they're going to be more regionally oriented. And I would say the price point on a lot of these deals, you're probably looking at somewhere in the 5-10 million dollar range for a school like Mizzou."

Rishe expects the university to lean into the St. Louis and Kansas City markets, trying to tap into Fortune 1000-sized companies. He says financial services and healthcare are two popular sectors.
