
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The St. Louis Metropolitan Area has seen a population loss since the 2020 Census and KMOX got to the bottom of the changes with Chris Rongey and Amy Marxkors.
According to the 2020 census, from April 2020 to July 2022, the entire St. Louis region lost around 19,000 people. A majority of those populations that left the area have been in the age demographic between 25-29 and 55-59 age groups, with almost 18,000 people leaving the area in the latter age group.
While a majority of areas have had population losses, suburban and exurban counties like St. Charles County, Lincoln County and Jefferson County have seen gains in their population groups.
The majority of losses camdtahe region has seen some gains in the Hispanic, Asian, American Indian, Native Hawaiian populations.
