New Haven, Mo. (KMOX) - At the request of the New Haven board of aldermen, Franklin County sheriff's deputies are now in charge of patrolling that town.
Sheriff Steve Pelton says in a news release that New Haven residents can be assured there's been no loss in law enforcement protection.
Pelton says his department will be conducting an audit and inventory of evidence held at the New Haven police station and making sure crime reporting to the state of Missouri has been completed.
Pelton says New Haven's police chief resigned shortly after being appointed and cited concerns about evidence handling.
New Haven is a town of just over 2400 residents, near Hermann.
