An alternative type of dental nightguard got it's start here in St. Louis.

Local dentist Dr. Andrea Morris created the device after experiencing continued jaw tension and pain when using traditional nightguards made for teeth grinding and jaw clenching. Morris said she heard the same from several patients and decided to come up with an alternative design, which sits in the inner cheek and has a small extension behind patient's molars.

"We see a lot of patients who have tried everything and are still really suffering from this," Morris said. "One of the most rewarding things for me is when we see marked improvements from people who have been struggling with this for years."

Remvia is only available at Hilltown Dental in Chesterfield right now, but will be available across St. Louis starting in September. Morris said she hopes the product will be available nationally after that.
