ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - If you are planning on attending Oakville High School's graduation ceremony on Sunday at Chaifetz Arena, expect enhanced security.
Mehlville School District Superintendent Jeff Haug sent a letter to all parents about the terrorist threat allegedly made by Samuel Starns.
Starns was the father of 15-year-old Colin Courtwright, who was killed on Feb. 5, along with 16-year-old Tyree Williams in a drug deal of marijuana cartridges gone wrong.
Four people, with two of them being seniors at Oakville High School, were charged in connection with the shooting.
According to a probable cause statement, Starns was made aware that some of the people who were charged in connection to Courtwright's death would be graduating at the arena earlier in the year. Starns would then contact a police detective and left a message, threatening "the detective would need to have the entire police force present at the ceremony" if either walked across the stage.
As a result, Starns was arrested and was charged with making a terrorist threat in the second-degree. He is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond, with no 10 percent.
Following the threat, Haug sent a letter to all parents, saying the students charged will not be at the graduation. Along that, there will be several layers of security in place to ensure a celebratory and safe graduation ceremony.
"The safety of our students, staff and graduation guests is our top priority. We have several layers of security in place to ensure a celebratory and safe graduation ceremony," said Haug in the letter.
Some of the layers include metal detectors, baggage checks, and St. Louis County Police officers stationed inside Chaifetz Arena.
Oakville High School graduation is set for Sunday, June 2.
