ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The OYO hotel in downtown St Louis is still set to become a Sheraton, but the project is struggling to garner support.

A local hospitality union expressed that they and developers had not been able to come to a neutrality agreement during the Housing, Urban Development and Zoning commitee's final meeting before winter break.

The approval of the redevelopment plans is contingent upon a bill granting a tax abatement that was supposed to be passed by the HUDZ committee by Tuesday, but the deadline for the passage was missed.

Despite missing the deadline the bills sponsor, Alderman Rasheen Aldridge, says the bill will come up at next week's meeting.

"I'm going to continue to talk with my committee members to get the support," Aldridge said. "I'm fighting for the residents and people in the condo building."

Investors initially said they would back out of the deal if the bill had not passed by the Tuesday deadline.
