A pastor who was carjacked at his church on Friday night got behind the pulpit on Sunday morning.

“I preached 1 John 4:19-21 how we're supposed to love our enemies,” Pastor Mike Coleman of Carondelet Baptist Church told KMOX. “And I'm gonna be honest with your listeners. That 20 seconds those kids turned their backs — I’m a concealed carry kind of guy, and I have carried from time to time — you do not scare someone, you do not threaten someone and then turn your back on them for 20 seconds.”

After being held at gunpoint that night, Coleman said, he had a sleepless night thinking of what might have happened if he had been carrying.

“If I had a gun that night, I could’ve gone to jail,” he said. “I made myself sick.”

One teenager, age 13, was arrested following the event. Police are still looking for the second suspect. Pastor Coleman said he will not drop the charges against the kid who was caught.

“If you don’t ask for accountability, if you don’t ask for people to be responsible for their actions, then they’re not going to change their habits,” he said.
