
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - O'Fallon, Missouri, Police have identified a suspect shot and killed by officers in a shootout with Sunday afternoon
At 4:15 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to O’Fallon City Hall at 100 N. Main Street following reports of a sususpect actively shooting at the clock tower.
O’Fallon officers responded to the area and successfully located the suspect's vehicle.
Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop at the intersection of N. Main Street and Highway P, but the suspects vehicle fled and a police chase ensued, leading officers into the Royal Oaks Subdivision, with the car eventually stopping on Spring Court.
The suspect, later identified as 34-year-old Douglas Allen Phipps, exited the vehicle, armed with a shotgun, and proceeded to point it at officers.
In response to the immediate threat, officers fired at Phipps. Phipps then fired back, before being killed by officers. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Charles County Ambulance District.
Two officers were involved in the incident, but luckily neither were injured during the confrontation.
The St. Charles County Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the incident.
