Police: Woman beat up St. Louis sheriff after being told to wear a face mask

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Police in St. Louis are asking for help to identify and find a woman who is accused of assaulting a sheriff who was working security at a gas station on Christmas.

Police say a black female, described as being as big as 6'2" and 200 pounds, wearing a black coat and black pants walked into the Shell station on N. Tucker Boulevard in downtown St. Louis.

When the suspect was asked to put on a face mask she "became belligerent" and pushed the sheriff, police say. The suspect then allegedly punched the victim in the face, then took the victim's baton and gave the victim a concussion when she hit the victim with it.

Police say she fled the scene in a red vehicle.

The victim declined medical attention when an ambulance arrived.
