McBride Homes, the state's largest homebuilding company, recently bought land at the site of the old Crestwood mall and plans to build about 81 homes.
Grocery chain Dierbergs bought some property too, and there will reportedly be amenities in the area, making the property a hot commodity.

KMOX's Stuart McMillian talked to some prospective homebuyers who were waiting in line. One man was the first in line and ended up buying a house to surprise his girlfriend in Alabama. Another said he was just a placeholder while his grown children worked today.
McBride Homes say they're going to have all 81 lots filled by the weekend.
