SAUGET, IL - (KMOX) The Major Case Squad says a road rage incident led to the death of a Florissant man at a Sauget, Illinois gas station over the weekend.

46-year old Terrel Vance was shot and killed on the Motomart lot before 12:30 Sunday morning. Investigators say 42-year-old Charles Shaw of Granite city was arrested and faces First Degree Murder charges.

After a thorough investigation, police say a suspect was identified that had been involved in a verbal altercation with the victim following a road rage incident.  The situation escalated unnecessarily to a deadly altercation on the parking lot of the Motomart. A second individual present during the incident was determined not to be involved in the commission of the homicide. At this time, there is no indication the individuals involved knew each other prior to this incident.

St. Clair County Judge Robert Haida set Shaw's bond at $1 million. He's currently in custody at the St. Clair County Jail.
